Inspired by aluminum pioneers

At Davy & Ørsted, we are deeply rooted in the legacy of aluminum’s founding fathers, Humphry Davy and Hans Christian Ørsted. They are quite literally the foundation of our houseboats. Sir Humphry Davy’s pioneering work, employing an innovative electrolysis method, led to the discovery of pure aluminum in 1807. In 1825, Hans Christian Ørsted invented the first successful production method for aluminum. It wasn’t until 1886 that large-scale electrochemical production of the metal became possible.
